When I was curating the brand I wanted a space where I don't distinguish between human and nature. In the light of pride month we have a similar value system where we are empathetic and accommodating of the differences among humans being a part of nature and well as human and identities. I came across this term Anthropocentrism which means ,we believe that Humans are the centre and all other beings are a means to human end. We should however be concerned to protect and preserve the rich and vibrant biosphere around us. Human flourishing should be a part of such flourishing not the reason why we "save the planet".
While I was reading up about pride month I came across the term Queer Ecology. It is a multidisciplinary field of study that derives into the relationship between qudualism" .i.e. labelling items as "natural" and "unnatural" . Very black and white perceptions with rigid ideas of what is normal and what isn't. Nature on the other hand is very fluid . The idea that heterosexuality is normal is a label created by humans. Take for example the fungi. Fungi are sexually fluid - they can simply merge together. They can mate sexually ,asexually or even mate with themselves. Discovered a new perspective on how we look at the nature around us. Hope it gave you a thought too.
This whole experience of learning about the close connection between sexualities and the natural world we live in has opened up a door of questions in my head on how we have been taught to perceive some things are "normal" because they fit the standard view of Anthropocentrics. These pictures beautifully represents the fluidity of the world we live in and the infinite possibilities it holds. But also shows us that the resources we have with us on the other hand are finite . The power to heal nature around us lies in our hands and might even extend human race as a by product heal yourself.
Accept the fluidity and read more about it via The Museum of Queer Ecology. Nobody is unnatural and Origin Studio does not discriminate based on identities or your experiences. Refer to our mission and vision statements for more.
Wear what you want when you want it irrespective of who you are according to societal norms, just think of nature when you do so!
